Thanks to Siera and The Ginn family, I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Rickea Hampton for a few years! We share that Framily (Friends who are Family) so we’ve spent a lot of time together creating memories! Rickea did my flower girls hair for my wedding (so cute that it’s pictured above), we were roommates at a bachelorette party in Jamaica, and amongst other things, she occasionally does my hair! She’s such a sweet person and I really admire what she’s trying to do in Cleveland, which is acknowledge and support those within the beauty industry.
Briefly tell me a little about yourself:
Rickea Hampton, Known to the beauty Industry as Coco., hairstylist, and site owner of Hair And The Blog (online platform for the beauty industry).
You were born and raised in Cleveland, what made you stay?
I was born and raised here in Cleveland. I haven’t left yet because I have unfinished business here, and there are some great things I would like to bring in our city.
You created a first of it’s kind event in Cleveland, can you tell me a little about it?
On September 24, 2017, Hair And The Blog will be presenting The Industry Award Show to recognize those in the Industry, and commending them on their hard work. This is definitely an event you don’t want to miss, if you haven’t’ already purchased a ticket, there will be a limited amount sold at the door! Early arrival is highly suggested.
Why was it important for you to make this happen in Cleveland?
It was so important to make this happen in Cleveland because we have so much underrated talent here in our city. It’s time for the world to see them and get the recognition deserved. There is strength in numbers, and Hair And The Blog plans to continue to bring the Industry together for the greater good to make a greater impact for our culture.
What do you love about Cleveland?
What I love about Cleveland…CLEVELAND HUSTLES HARDER. We work so hard for all the things we accomplish, and we as a city should take pride in that.
What are some of of your favorite places to hangout in Cleveland?
Some of my favorite places to hang out are in Downtown, Cleveland. The Flats to be even more specific. In one area there are so many things to do, people to see, many restaurants to try, and an amazing view.
What do you wish more people knew about Cleveland?
I wish people knew of all the COOL people in Cleveland. There is Plenty of us. We have so many resourceful people and awesome events that take place here that I wish even those who lived here were more aware of.
