What The Heck…. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner!

So I’ve been to this place at least 10 times since it opened and I’ll credit most of those visits to it being next door to my office building and convenient. I’ll also say it’s because the food is reasonably priced, really good and the service is really quick whether I’m eating in or ordering to go.

This is an express version of the very popular cafe’s in Ohio City and Avon. Everything is fresh and locally sourced! Which makes me feel like I’m double supporting our small businesses. I’ll be totally honest and say I’ve never gone to the other locations, but I do know they serve a more extensive menu, stay open a little later and have alcoholic beverages! Not only that but the other locations have private dining room options with private bars which can hold up to 100 people. While I don’t usually vouch for places I have not gone, the pictures are nice so I would at least suggest IF interested in hosting a a group event/dinner, add it to your list and go visit. I’ll confirm the food is great!

So the first time I came here, it had literally just opened and I was craving a corned beef sandwich. At the same time I was not that hungry so I didn’t want the usual extra packed with meat corned beef sandwich. I let go of the idea I would find what I was looking for downtown and settled on the idea that I would grab a burger with my colleagues from next door. We had a small window for a meeting and decided we would stay close to the office and order to go,  As we walked out of our office we noticed the NOW OPEN signs and stopped next door.

My first thought was oh this is a cute space, I really liked the color, the dark woods and the hints of artificial grass under the glass tables and a few places on the wall. The window seating is perfect for people watching out on Euclid, there are a few high long community tables, and then a few small tables and booths. There is also a cute fireplace to the left of the entrance  which would be perfect for just grabbing a coffee or hot tea and chatting with a friend. I have had short breakfast and lunch meetings here which work well depending on what time of day it is. Lunch tends to be very busy so a little noisy.

I’ll be honest, my first time here I didn’t know what to expect besides burgers. I was pleasantly surprised to find a corned beef sandwich on the menu along with breakfast options, milkshakes and smoothie bowls. I was a tad bit nervous but gave it a try. It was actually great and the perfect portion. I could fit the entire corned beef sandwich in my hand and take a bite without tons of meat coming out. If you’ve had the typical local corned beef sandwich than you know what I mean. It was served by itself no sides, and cost $9. Great option!

Now I’m not going to mention what I’ve ordered every time but I will say my favorite burger is the Hot Fire Burger ($8), which I always get and add fries. The burger is Jalapeño-bacon jam, pepper jack cheese, tomato, lettuce, spicy aioli. Now they offer spicy fries (chili aioli + rosemary ketchup) which taste great but I found to be overkill with the burger, so i get the plain hecks fries (Malt vinegar aioli + rosemary ketchup) both of which come at a price of $4 alone or with a burger for $3. It’s a large meal for $11 bucks and a very filling lunch or dinner option.  When I order to go for breakfast, which I do often, I always  get the Ohio City Breakfast which comes with two eggs (I scramble with cheese) potatoes which are waffle fries with seasoning, fresh tomatoes and toast. Again, a filling meal for just $7.

So as you can see this place is very reasonably priced. I’ve never had to spend an arm and a leg to get full and I’ve always been very pleased with my choices. The staff is small and very friendly.  It’s a great place to go if you have a parking spot on Euclid or close by, or are just walking the streets. At lunch time it’s always busy downtown, especially with construction so parking could be a challenge. It’s very clean and spacious and great to go whether you have time to sit eat and read a book or a grab and go. If you are in the downtown area and in walking distance to the house Hyatt Regency Arcade I suggest you stop by Hecks Express on Euclid and tell them you read about them on #CourtneyCoversCleveland If you’ve gone to the other locations drop me a note and let me know your thoughts!
