What The Heck…. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner!

So I’ve been to this place at least 10 times since it opened and I’ll credit most of those visits to it being next door to my office building and convenient. I’ll also say it’s because the food is reasonably priced, really good and the service is really quick whether I’m eating in or ordering to go.

This is an express version of the very popular cafe’s in Ohio City and Avon. Everything is fresh and locally sourced! Which makes me feel like I’m double supporting our small businesses. I’ll be totally honest and say I’ve never gone to the other locations, but I do know they serve a more extensive menu, stay open a little later and have alcoholic beverages! Not only that but the other locations have private dining room options with private bars which can hold up to 100 people. While I don’t usually vouch for places I have not gone, the pictures are nice so I would at least suggest IF interested in hosting a a group event/dinner, add it to your list and go visit. I’ll confirm the food is great!

So the first time I came here, it had literally just opened and I was craving a corned beef sandwich. At the same time I was not that hungry so I didn’t want the usual extra packed with meat corned beef sandwich. I let go of the idea I would find what I was looking for downtown and settled on the idea that I would grab a burger with my colleagues from next door. We had a small window for a meeting and decided we would stay close to the office and order to go,  As we walked out of our office we noticed the NOW OPEN signs and stopped next door.

My first thought was oh this is a cute space, I really liked the color, the dark woods and the hints of artificial grass under the glass tables and a few places on the wall. The window seating is perfect for people watching out on Euclid, there are a few high long community tables, and then a few small tables and booths. There is also a cute fireplace to the left of the entrance  which would be perfect for just grabbing a coffee or hot tea and chatting with a friend. I have had short breakfast and lunch meetings here which work well depending on what time of day it is. Lunch tends to be very busy so a little noisy.

I’ll be honest, my first time here I didn’t know what to expect besides burgers. I was pleasantly surprised to find a corned beef sandwich on the menu along with breakfast options, milkshakes and smoothie bowls. I was a tad bit nervous but gave it a try. It was actually great and the perfect portion. I could fit the entire corned beef sandwich in my hand and take a bite without tons of meat coming out. If you’ve had the typical local corned beef sandwich than you know what I mean. It was served by itself no sides, and cost $9. Great option!

Now I’m not going to mention what I’ve ordered every time but I will say my favorite burger is the Hot Fire Burger ($8), which I always get and add fries. The burger is Jalapeño-bacon jam, pepper jack cheese, tomato, lettuce, spicy aioli. Now they offer spicy fries (chili aioli + rosemary ketchup) which taste great but I found to be overkill with the burger, so i get the plain hecks fries (Malt vinegar aioli + rosemary ketchup) both of which come at a price of $4 alone or with a burger for $3. It’s a large meal for $11 bucks and a very filling lunch or dinner option.  When I order to go for breakfast, which I do often, I always  get the Ohio City Breakfast which comes with two eggs (I scramble with cheese) potatoes which are waffle fries with seasoning, fresh tomatoes and toast. Again, a filling meal for just $7.

So as you can see this place is very reasonably priced. I’ve never had to spend an arm and a leg to get full and I’ve always been very pleased with my choices. The staff is small and very friendly.  It’s a great place to go if you have a parking spot on Euclid or close by, or are just walking the streets. At lunch time it’s always busy downtown, especially with construction so parking could be a challenge. It’s very clean and spacious and great to go whether you have time to sit eat and read a book or a grab and go. If you are in the downtown area and in walking distance to the house Hyatt Regency Arcade I suggest you stop by Hecks Express on Euclid and tell them you read about them on #CourtneyCoversCleveland If you’ve gone to the other locations drop me a note and let me know your thoughts!

  • #transparentwednesday last week we celebrated our anniversary unlike the ones before. We weren’t on a trip alone, we were in Florida with our entire family... thanks to our friends KY and Ted we were able to sneak away at night to celebrate! If you saw my IG story you know we had a ball, I mean partied like two college kids- drinking and singing having a good time! It was what we needed! I believe all couples need trips alone - to reconnect and refresh- and most importantly not focus on the kids but each other! We commit to doing this for our anniversary every year for a week but due to Codi pushed it back. So in the meantime- date nights and any time alone is important to me. This picture is me a little insecure about my body two months post baby, not having a flat stomach or back to my ideal weight... but enjoying my life in the moment with this human being I chose to marry. It’s not hard being a new mom- or mom to 4 but it’s challenging to make sure while you make each day about your kids you also make each day about your partner! Living and learning to balance it the best way I can... #imtrying #notperfect #momlife #wifelife #happyanniversary #marriedcouple #blacklove #husbandandwife #datenight
  • #MCM all my boys!!!! We had a great week long family vacation in Florida! It was the first time traveling with our entire family of 6 so I encountered for the first time the challenge of flying with 2 under 2, carrying around 2 car seats, a double stroller, a purse, a breast pump, a diaper bag and luggage! Thanks to my @graco #gracoreadytogrow double stroller and my @ergobaby carrier for the assist throughout the airport and trip! It was a challenge but we made it and everyone had a great time! #familyvacation #familyof6 #travelingwithkids #doublestroller

  • Happy 4th Anniversary @crewcamp_bo I always tell everyone my wedding day was the best day of my life and I mean that 1000% but marriage is so much more than the big day!

For all of you so eager to call it quits and throw in the towel on your relationships because everything isn’t “perfect”...here is some food for thought. Lifelong commitment is not what most people think it is. It's not waking up every morning to make breakfast and eat together. It's not cuddling in bed until both of you fall asleep, peacefully, at night. It's not a clean home filled with laughter and lovemaking, everyday. It's someone who steals all the covers. It's slammed doors and a few harsh words, at times. It’s stubbornly disagreeing and giving each other the silent treatment until your hearts heal...and, then...FORGIVENESS! It’s coming home to the same person, everyday, that you know LOVES and CARES about you in spite of (and because of) who you are. It's laughing about the one time you accidentally did something stupid. It's about dirty laundry and unmade beds. It's about helping each other with the hard work of life! It's about swallowing the nagging words instead of saying them out loud. It's about eating the cheapest and easiest meal you can make and sitting down together at late night to eat because you both had a crazy day. It's when you have an emotional breakdown and your Love lays with you and holds you and tells you everything is going to be okay...and you BELIEVE them. It's about still loving someone even though, sometimes, they make you absolutely insane. Living with the person you love is not perfect... sometimes it's hard; but it's amazing and comforting and one of the BEST things you'll ever experience! .
