This is one of #CourtneyCoversCleveland's favorite events! What is OvercomeHer? “OvercomeHer” is a workshop series presented by Jazmine Marie of The Fresh Life. It is emotional wellness workshops focusing on two themes. First, OvercomeHER—overcome the little girl within, who is acting out for attention, approval, and love. Overcome the shame, guilt, stagnation, anger, and unforgiveness from the past. OvercomeHER parental wounds & family of origin issues. Second, always keeping in mind that we are all “OvercomeHERs” (overcomers). Through education and implementation of the wellness work created and inspired by Jazmine Marie, we can overcome! Cleveland Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Present “Do Something Day” 2020
Jack and Jill of America, Inc. is a membership organization of mothers with children ages 2-19, dedicated to nurturing future African-American leaders by strengthening children through leadership development, volunteer service, philanthropic giving and civic duty. Each year, chapters of Jack and Jill across the nation honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a day of service to the community, on the holiday named in his honor. This year marks 70 years of the Cleveland Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. For its 2020 MLK, Jr. Day of Service, on Monday, January 20, 2020, the families of the Cleveland Chapter have organized a health and wellness fair entitled “Empowering the Community to Live Well”. This event will provide educational resources and information on mental and physical health, nutrition, oral health, and other areas of health and wellness. The community will have the opportunity to hear from experts during the event’s onsite workshops and demonstrations. There will be health screenings and giveaways as well!

#CourtneyCoversCleveland is super excited to join NAACP Cleveland Branch for a private screening of Just Mercy and a criminal justice reform panel discussion following the movie. About this Event On MLK Day we take a moment to reflect on the life and lasting legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year we want you to commit to finding a role in advancing his belief that we should all be free. Please join the NAACP Cleveland Branch and our criminal justice reform partners for a private screening of Just Mercy, based on the true story of one young attorney's commitment to fighting to get an innocent black man freed from death row. Stay for the panel discussion following the film to learn more about what you can do to advocate for change in our system.
