Courtney Lynn Ottrix
I was born and raised in Cleveland to two amazing parents Greg and Leslie Conwell. I very proudly grew up in Shaker Heights with my 4 siblings Chris, Camille, Carlton and Cameron. I attended Shaker Schools until freshman year of high school where I left to go to Beaumont for two years. I returned to Shaker my junior year and graduated with my childhood friends in 2004. Upon graduation, I left to attend college in Pittsburgh at Duquesne University. In 2008 I returned home to Cleveland and have lived here ever since.
I have loved Cleveland for as long as I can remember however it wasn’t until I became an adult that I learned to fully appreciate it. Not just the cost of living, but the revitalization that I’ve watched and been apart of the last few years. Cleveland has seen a transformation and it’s only getting better. Someone started calling me “Cleveland Courtney”, because I was constantly posting great news and new developments about Cleveland. It was this excitement, passion and love for Cleveland that drove me to start this blog. So I am officially a blogger, covering cool people, cool places and cool events in CLEVELAND!
Prior to blogging full time (As of April 2019), I spent the previous 5 years serving as the Communications Director of Global Cleveland, overseeing all marketing and communications efforts for the non-profit organization whose mission is to attract, welcome and connect international newcomers to economic and social opportunities in Cleveland and Cuyahoga County. Since 2007, I’ve worked as a freelance Production Assistant for ESPN and ABC, primarily in Game Day operations. I’ve had the pleasure of working College Football, College Basketball, the WNBA, Monday Night Football, USA Soccer, Boxing and various sporting events over the past 10 years throughout the country.
In 2013, I Co-Founded Talk and Taste Cleveland with my high school friend Ashley Taylor. This event Networking event targeting young professionals throughout the city, was created to educate, motivate, and inspire young professionals seeking to build a sense of community and network in Cleveland.
In my most important roles, I am the proud, PROUD, proud wife of Bryon Ottrix Sr. and the mother of three boys Bryon Jr., Paul Hobson and Bryce Cameron and finally one daughter Codi Lynn. I am totally obsessed with my family so you will most certainly hear about them in my post and see them in my pictures. I spend a lot of my time supporting their extracurricular sporting activities as my husband coaches basketball at Glenville High School, has his own AAU Basketball Team (Ginn Elite) and my boys play basketball and football (minus Bryce who’s learning to swim). Without them, I wouldn’t find time to drink wine and work on my blog, so I’m greatly appreciative of their love and support in this venture!
