“My Violin Weighs A Ton”

Severance Hall 11001 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland

Hip-Hop Artist, Archie Green has partnered with Lexington-Bell Community Center (LBCC) in the historic Hough neighborhood, to present “My Violin Weighs A Ton,” a unique experience engaging, educating, and inspiring a new generation. The concert will feature special performances from LBCC students, and Green accompanied by an 8-piece chamber ensemble. What makes this performance even more eventful, is the venue in which it will take place: Severance Hall. “It has been a goal of mine to bring hip-hop to Severance Hall for sometime now, as a fan of both rap and classical music,” says Green, a 2019 Cleveland Arts Prize Verge Fellow. “My vision for ‘My Violin Weighs A Ton’ brings that dream to life, while also bringing a life-changing experience to all the Lexington-Bell students, their families and the arts & culture space in Cleveland as a whole.” Students will perform a rendition of Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” on classical guitar, while Green and the CLASS Ensemble will perform new songs from his next EP titled, “I Like To Be Wierd,” weird misspelled intentionally. “My Violin Weighs A Ton” is funded in part by Cuyahoga Arts & Culture, and sponsored by The Cleveland Orchestra’s Neighborhood Partners Program.
