Twinsburg native Stephanie Claytor: BlackTrekking

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the book signing of Blacktrekking!

This book, written by award winning journalist and Twinsburg native Stephanie Claytor is all about her experience studying and living abroad. I’m excited to read this because one of my biggest regrets in college was NOT studying abroad, not only that but as much as I believe in exploring Cleveland- I believe even more in traveling abroad and seeing the world.

At her book signing, Stephanie talked very openly about her experience living in various parts of the world from the perspective of Black American Woman. She covered everything from boarding a plane not knowing anyone (not once, but twice)– to living months in a different country, eating new foods, speaking Spanish, teaching English – listening to different music and learning about different cultures. Stephanie says “My main goal is to inspire more American college students, especially students of color to study abroad and to give them an idea of what it’s like. My other goal was to inform Americans in particular about black culture and history in the Dominican Republic and Colombia.”

I know this book is going to be awesome and I encourage all of my followers to check it out CLICK HERE to purchase the book on Amazon!
