Courtney Visits LEGOLAND Discovery Center Columbus

Earlier the week #CourtneyCoversCleveland was invited to LEGOLAND Discovery Center Columbus, the ultimate indoor LEGO playground for their Winter Influencer Event. Not only did Bryce Cameron and Codi Lynn get to explore 36,000 square feet of indoor LEGO fun, but they also had a chance to enjoy 2 rides, various LEGO themed building areas, and a dance party with LEGO characters!

Of course let me answer the first question going through your mind- was it safe? YES!

For starters they’ve implemented many measures to provide extra precautions for our staff and guests including working with their cleaning supply vendor to use the most effective cleaning products to sanitize throughout the Center, health screenings for all staff and my favorite use of individual bags of LEGO® brick for families to use during their visit instead of open LEGO brick pits. These bags are sanitized between each family to help reduce contact. They also have additional sanitizing of attractions and high touch areas throughout the Center. Added hand sanitizing stations throughout the Center with over 20 stations in guest facing areas. Last but not least, there is limited capacity in the Center as well as in key attractions such as the 4D Cinema. Utilization of electrostatic sprayer technology for added sanitization.

Everyone over the age of 6 is required to wear a mask at all times, however we made sure Bryce and Codi wore there’s as well. I also brought my own stash of sanitizer and wipes because I’m that mom especially during COVID.

The kids loved the two rides Kingdom Quest and Merlin’s Apprentice. Bryce also really enjoyed the LEGO Racers area which allowed him to build and test cars with his dad and then race them against other visitors on ramps and racetracks. Codi liked the LEGO Playground and LEGO Friend Zone which was perfect for little girls so I sat with her while she built building and stood next to life-size LEGO girls. My favorite part, which the kids also enjoyed lol was walking through the LEGO MINILAND. It’s an awesome opportunity to explore and interact with Ohio’s biggest cities in a  spectacular miniature LEGO® replica of Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati’s most loved landmarks built from over 1.5 million LEGO® bricks! I thought it was cool to see the Ohio State University Football Stadium, and the spectacular Rock and Roll Hall of Game.

How could I forget the Dance Party and meeting Everett! This was fun for sure because my kids love dancing and so do we! We even got to hear “Everything is Awesome” and learn some cool dance moves.

There’s a lot to explore! We spent 1.5 hours there and us that was enough time. Let me add, we did not eat there and it was not full to capacity as it was a private event with a small number of guests so we didn’t have to wait in line to do anything. Depending on the age of your children, I’d say 2-3 hours is a reasonable amount of time to plan to spend here.  Oh.. let me add also did not see the 4D Cinema featuring four different LEGO themed movies on rotation every half-hour throughout the day nor did out kids play in the LEGO City indoor climbing gym. So if those are things you know you want to do, I’d say plan for more time!

I love this getaway for kids because it’s only 2 hours away from Cleveland. You can either drive up in the morning have lunch and go back home or you can do like we did, and make it a quick overnight trip. Our kids love hotels so it was a no brainer for us, plus we didn’t get on the road until late afternoon. We stayed at the Hilton Easton which was walking distance to LEGOLAND. It made for an amazing experience because you can explore Easton Town Square by foot. I even enjoyed the next morning while the kids slept, walking to get my morning coffee and grab breakfast.
