So here’s a little fact about Courtney… I LOVE wine! Not only do I love wine but I love wineries. I use to complain because you have to go so far from Cleveland to experience and enjoy a winery but then I stumbled upon this place right here in CLEVELAND and totally fell in love! One night after dinner, the hubs and I were in the Cedar-Lee area and decided to stop in. Unfortunately they were closing, so we had one glass and left. We thought the space was cool and were eager to come back.
Fast forward two months and I still hadn’t found the time to go back, so as my birthday was quickly approaching and I was in need of a venue, I thought what better way to celebrate, then a wine tasting! I stopped in one random night and talked to the owner Destiny, gave her my vision for a laid back hangout and she said the space is yours! She explained, Friday and Saturdays were her busiest times so it wouldn’t be closed to the public but that I could have the couch area a few tables in the front (the picture above of the space is from the evening we popped in and it was empty). She also allowed me to bring in my own cheese and cracker trays and of course… cupcakes!
We did very minimal decorations, a table cloth with colored napkins and utensils, a few balloons here and there and that was all. They have little tasting note cards, for each of the 12 wines that they offer, so I put those cards on the table. I purchased a few bottles of each, and my let my guest wine taste all night. I forget to mention that there was live entertainment. A guitarist who sang a few cover songs and of course happy birthday to me. The entire vibe was mellow and chill, thankfully the music wasn’t loud so I was still able to hold a conversation without feeling like I was screaming.
By 8pm the room was full of locals and a bout 20 plus people I personally invited. People were bringing in their own sushi, pizza, veggie trays. etc., grabbing a table and enjoying the wine and music. It was the cutest, coziest little place. Very chill, casual, modern, and the best part was everyone had on jeans. I say that because sometimes you want to go out and you don’t want to get dressed up. You could definitely wear a heel or flat and feel like you belong. It was the perfect place to spend a Friday night.
Luckily it was my birthday, so I also went home with 18 bottles of wine which were gifts from my guests. The following night I opened and enjoyed a bottle at home at the fireplace with my hubs. We chose to open one of my favorites from there the Edgewater Blackberry Merlot (and I’m not a big merlot fan at all but this was so good). FYI- all there wines have cute local names. If you are looking for a cute girls night, or date night, or just something to do. I’m looking forward to going back in the summer when they raise the garage doors! I encourage you to visit CLE Urban Winery and tell them you read about them on #CourtneyCoversCleveland
